Dr. Askew Honored With The Ultimate Drive Award

The Houston BMW Group hosted the Eighth Annual BMW Ultimate Drive for the Cure benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation May 22 and 24-28 at Houston area BMW locations.

During the week-long driving event, The Houston BMW Group honored area heroes for bravery in the fight against cancer, outstanding volunteerism and ongoing Breast Cancer research. J.B. Askew, Jr., M.D., founder of Breastpath.com, was honored with a Local Hero Award to recognize his support for breast cancer awareness.

The Ultimate Drive features two fleets of specially marked BMWs that travel across the country to more than 200 BMW dealerships. At each event, guests are invited to test drive a BMW from the fleet of Ultimate Drive program cars. For each mile driven, BMW donates $1 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, raising $1 million each year.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. Today the foundation is an international organization with a network of more than 75,000 volunteers working through local affiliates and events to eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease.
